We love fall! It’s not just a great time to run, but it’s also a beautiful and invigorating time of year. What better way to spend a fall day than to visit a working farm during harvest time? Connect with the damp soil under your feet, inhale the fragrances of autumn foliage in crisp morning air, run through misty lowland fields bejeweled with dew—this is what it is to feel vigorous and alive!
Now that you’re picturing yourself with feet on the ground in this beautiful setting and the residue of the weekday grind is falling away, are you ready to really lose yourself in an extraordinary experience? Enter the corn maze! After a run through a tunnel and over dirt farm roads, you embark on a well-marked route through a corn maze where your mind will be absorbed by the straightaways, lefts, and rights—just you, the corn, and the dirt in front of you—for a time-bending magic carpet ride. Dive back into the maze for another lap for the longer (about 7k) course, or move on to the dash through the wide open fields to the finish on the 5k.
Thanks to Bob’s Corn & Pumpkin Farm for welcoming us back this year! The farm is located in the beautiful Snohomish River Valley, just across the river from Lord Hill Park. Your run entry covers your entry into the maze during the run. If you want to make a fun day of it, you can visit the country store after the run to purchase farm admission ($19.95/person), which includes entrance to the corn maze again and a smaller kids’ maze, pumpkin patches, hay rides, a kids area, a cow train, food booths, a play barn, and a corn crib. These activities and more open at 10am.
