Redmond Watershed Preserve is known for its especially well-groomed trails, gently rolling hills, and forests thick with fern. Novices appreciate that there is less to trip on and more room to pass than other more technical venues, while veterans enjoy besting their personal records on the smooth dirt carpet. So lace up, grab a friend, and make the most of summer in a vibrant green forest. Join us for a 5-mile or 10-mile trail run at Sunshine Salutation, the second event in the Tuesday Night Trail to Grill series!

Tuesday Night Trail to Grill

The Tuesday Night Trail to Grill (TNT2G) takes place on 6 Tuesday evenings in some of the most verdant running destinations that are conveniently located within the Seattle and Eastside areas. Distances are short, ranging from 4k to 10 miles.

NOTE: This event has a 150-runner limit.

Course Description

Both courses have low to moderate climb and mostly relatively wide, smooth trails, with few steep parts.

Aid Station
The aid station offers water, electrolyte drink, and some carbohydrate-rich or salty foods, such as cookies, pieces of energy bar, gels, chews, chips, bagel, fruity candy, fig bars, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and/or bananas.

PETS
Pets are not allowed in Redmond Watershed Preserve.

HORSES
You may encounter horseback riders at Redmond Watershed Preserve. They have the right-of-way, so if you encounter a horse then please stop running, step to the side to let them go by, and talk to the rider in a friendly voice. Never run up to a horse from behind.

Seattle’s big secret is its gorgeous summer. Nothing beats summer in Seattle and it is a treat that is not taken for granted by residents, as evidenced by the flock of Seattilites donning shorts and sandals in the park the first moment the sun shines. Summer is special here, so what better way to squeeze the most out of these beautiful, if fleeting, summer days than a weeknight trail run series that ends with grilled hotdogs (veggie too!) and watermelon? Join us for some real summer fun!

Are you motivated by swag?

Consistency pays off! Participate in 3 or more of the 2015 Tuesday Night Trail to Grill events and you’ll earn an aluminum water bottle with the adorable chipmunk design!

Are you competitive?

The top series competitors will win a custom felt watermelon keychain, with the series’ initials stitched onto the back. Special thanks to Jenn Brown at Felt Loved for customizing these for us.

Your best 3 performances in the Tuesday Night Trail to Grill series will rank you in the series standings!
If you want to do fewer events, that’s okay! Series events are open to everyone.
You may register for events individually, or use Series Registration to sign up for more than one event at once for your own convenience. It is not required to use Series Registration to be part of the series competition.
If you complete any of the 2015 Tuesday Night Trail to Grill events, you are automatically entered.
Points are awarded based on finish placement.
Women’s and men’s placements are scored separately.
The 1st place woman and 1st place man in each event score 100 points, 2nd place scores 95, 3rd scores 92, 4th scores 90, 5th 89 and so on. Places 64th and lower score 30 points.
The series rewards those with the most points, regardless of what distances they ran.
In the event of a tie, each runner’s highest point score is used for the tie-breaker. If two runners have identical highest point scores, then the next highest point scores are compared until the tie is broken.
The top series participants receive special recognition at the final Tuesday Night Trail to Grill event, Interlaken Ice Cream Dash, on August 25th.

Safety & Etiquette

SAFETY
The trails will be open to other users during the event, including pedestrians and equestrians (horseback riders). Please be courteous. Horses have the right of way, and if you encounter a horse in your path, stop running and talk to the rider; you will probably need to step to the side of the trail to let the horse past, but sometimes the rider will tell you it is okay to walk past. The amount of trail traffic will depend on the weather.

PETS
Pets are not allowed in Redmond Watershed Preserve.

PASSING ETIQUETTE
Where the trails are narrow, please let other participants pass you if they want to get by. It is a passing runner’s job to tell the person in front that they wish to pass.

HEADPHONES
If you are wearing headphones during the event, please keep the volume low so that you can hear runners behind you. Be especially mindful that runners may be asking you to step aside so they may pass.
