According to Seattle Parks & Recreation, a local realtor named Ravenna Park after “an Italian seacoast town that was famous for its pine trees, where poets, warriors, and statesmen once strolled in a state of euphoria…” Experience your own trail running-induced euphoria at Ravenna Run the Ravine! Whether it’s your first trail run, a chance to set a personal record, or simply some motivating maintenance miles, you’ll be glad you ran at Ravenna Park.

Online pre-registration closes Monday, June 6, 2022 at 11:59pm. Event-day registration will be available by cash, card, or check made payable to Northwest Trail Runs.

Youth Runner Discount

Runners who are 18 or younger are eligible to receive a $10 discount on online pre-registration prices for all Northwest Trail Runs events. The discount will be auto generated based on your birthday.

Young runners registering at the event may receive $5 off day-of-event registration.

Course Description

All courses use the same 4.1 km loop, with low to moderate climb (230 feet per loop) and nicely groomed forested trails. There are a few steeper pitches, but most of the course is gently sloping, as the course takes runners up and down the ravine.

Aid Station
There will be an aid station at the start/finish point, so runners doing the 8 km and 12 km distances will pass the aid station once and twice, respectively.

The aid station will be set up to offer individual portions only, and participants may touch only items they are taking from the table. Only staff may handle communal serving containers, and surfaces will be sanitized frequently throughout the event.

The aid station offers water, electrolyte drink, and some carbohydrate-rich or salty foods, such as cookies, pieces of energy bar, gels, chews, chips, fruity candy, fig bars, and/or bananas.

Directions & Parking

The parking lot at Ravenna Park is very small (fewer than 30 spaces), so be prepared to find nearby street parking North (unrestricted, but a bit farther scenic walk) or South (2-hour limit between 7am and 8pm) of the park.

Hot Dogs, Watermelon & More!

Make sure to stick around after your race for hot dogs, veggie dogs, watermelon, and other yummy snacks! We will do awards for the top 3 male and female in each distance and a raffle for fun prizes (included in entry fee).

COVID-19 Safety Measures

Outdoors settings are among the safest, due to the open air dissipating virus particles to greatly reduce the risk of transmission. As the levels of vaccination and herd immunity improve, we will continue to keep an eye on current infection rates and reevaluate our guidance to achieve the appropriate level of event safety.

Here are the precautions we ask participants, staff, and volunteers to take:

You don’t need to wear a mask at our events if you are vaccinated, but mask wearing is encouraged in congested areas or if you are not vaccinated and near others
Please stay home if you are sick; we’ll happily give you a credit toward another race or a full refund
Keep a six foot distance from others when it is practical, or at least avoid being in close proximity for a long time in still air
Limit touching of shared surfaces and items, and clean your hands before and after
Wear a mask when riding a shuttle bus

Safety, Etiquette & Dogs

SAFETY
The trails will be open to other users during the event, including pedestrians with pets, and cyclists. Participants are responsible for their own safety while participating, and the organizers are neither qualified nor equipped to render medical care in the event of a serious injury. In case of an emergency, call 9-1-1. You are encouraged to bring a cell phone with you as a safety precaution, if you wish.

FOLLOWING AND PASSING ETIQUETTE
If you find yourself following other runners at a similar pace, please do so at a distance of at least 20 feet (6 meters). When passing, please announce your intent well in advance, in case the runner in front of you wishes to step to the side of the trail to maintain a comfortable distance. Where the trails are narrow, please let other participants pass you if they want to get by. It is a passing runner’s job to tell the person in front that they wish to pass.

HEADPHONES
If you’d like to listen to music while you’re on the course, please use headphones or earbuds, so that runners around you can’t hear it. Others may prefer a quieter event experience or may have different musical tastes. Runners playing music in the open air may be asked to leave the event.

Also, keep the volume low enough that you can hear someone talking to you in a normal voice, for example, another runner saying they would like to pass on your left.

DOGS
Our events are USATF certificated and under the USATF policies, dogs are not allowed on course.
