Your entry helps support the Kokanee Salmon recovery work of the Three Rivers Chapter of Trout Unlimited. The Kokanee are unique to Lake Sammamish and are in danger of becoming extinct. Some of Trout Unlimited’s work includes: protecting the Kokanee’s access to spawning areas, educating fishermen to properly identify Kokanee, educating residents about environmentally-friendly lawn care, and more.

The Three Rivers Chapter was recently awarded the King County Green Globe Award for their work on recovering the Lake Samammish Kokanee!

COVID-19 Safety Measures

Part of our duty as event organizers is to plan carefully for safety, and that includes COVID-19 safety. We appreciate the trust you place in us by coming to our events, and we ask that we be able to trust you to take part in the simple measures we’re employing for COVID-19 safety. Thank you!

Please read this page for an overview of our general measures.

Here are some specific considerations for this event:

We ask that everyone please wear a mask in more congested areas where it is generally not possible to keep your physical distance from others. This includes the registration/check-in area and the post-run refreshments table.
Vaccinated people need not wear a mask at other times around the start/finish area.
Unvaccinated people please wear a mask around the start/finish area.
We ask that everyone please wear a mask when gathering for the pre-start briefing.
Everyone may take off their mask for the race itself.
While you are running, you may wish to be mindful to avoid following immediately behind another runner (touching distance), where you could possibly be breathing a high concentration of their exhaled air.
While you are running, please facilitate passing taking place with as much distance as practical and as briefly as practical. Announce that you are passing as you approach another runner from behind.

T-shirt

All pre-registered runners will receive a FREE tech t-shirt featuring the custom salmon artwork (similar to the design above) by Shaun Peterson! T-shirts come in Medium Youth – Adult XXL and are unisex. We cannot guarantee shirt availability for anyone registering on event-day.

Course Description

The course is a 5k loop, starting out on paved park paths (67%) and then finishing on wide, grassy trails (33%). The route is basically flat, with no hills. 5k participants will do this loop once, and 10k participants will do it twice.

Aid Station
There will be one aid station at about 1.7 miles into the loop.

Aid stations offer water, electrolyte drink, and some carbohydrate-rich or salty foods, such as cookies, pieces of energy bar, gels, chews, chips, bagel, fruity candy, fig bars, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and/or bananas.

* We will offer individual starts upon request from 9:31am to 9:40am for anyone who does not wish to participate in the mass-start.

Note that parking at this park requires a Discover Pass. If you purchase a Discover Pass online, you can print out a temporary pass before your pass arrives in the mail. There are also many vendors that sell passes in-person. See this website for details.

Safety, Etiquette, & Dogs

SAFETY
The trails will be open to other users during the event, including pedestrians with pets, and cyclists. Participants are responsible for their own safety while participating, and the organizers are neither qualified nor equipped to render medical care in the event of a serious injury. In case of an emergency, call 9-1-1. You are encouraged to bring a cell phone with you as a safety precaution, if you wish.

PASSING ETIQUETTE
When passing on narrow parts of the course, please announce your intention in advance. And please let other participants pass you if they want to get by. It is a passing runner’s job to tell the person in front that they wish to pass.

HEADPHONES
If you’d like to listen to music while you’re on the course, please use headphones or earbuds, so that runners around you can’t hear it. Others may prefer a quieter event experience or may have different musical tastes. Runners playing music in the open air may be asked to leave the event.

Also, keep the volume low enough that you can hear someone talking to you in a normal voice, for example, another runner saying they would like to pass on your left.

DOGS
Our events are USATF sanctioned, and under the USATF policies dogs are not allowed on course.
