The start is at the Middle Fork Trailhead, and the courses take runners on the beautiful Middle Fork, CCC, and Snoqualmie Lake trails. All courses have modest climb, since the routes follow river valleys, with a few meanders of the trail up and down the valley slope. The Middle Fork Valley features views of the rugged mountain slopes, old-growth trees, majestic cliffs, lush forest, the swiftly-flowing Middle Fork Snoqualmie River, and perhaps some birds fishing along the river. This event is part of the Half Marathon Trail Series, and runners in the Half Marathon distance will earn points toward their series standing. You can read more below or on the Half Marathon Trail Series page.

Online pre-registration closed Thursday, September 9 at 11:59pm. Event-day registration is available onsite at the start.

Runners in elementary, middle, or high school are eligible to receive a $10 discount on online pre-registration prices. The discount will be applied automatically based on your date of birth.

Young runners registering at the event may receive $5 off day-of-event registration.

COVID-19 Safety Measures

Part of our duty as event organizers is to plan carefully for safety. We take this responsibility seriously, and we appreciate the trust you place in us by coming to our events.

Outdoor endurance events remain one of the safest and most health-promoting things you can do during the still ongoing pandemic. Thanks to the high rates of vaccination in our region and the brief proximity to others due to the below precautions, you are unlikely to be exposed to anyone at the event with COVID-19, and there is only a very small chance of serous illness should a vaccinated person be so unlucky as to catch it.

We would still like you and everyone attending our events to take common-sense precautions to minimize the risks of transmission: Avoid remaining in close proximity to others (where you are face-to-face or breathing the same air) for prolonged periods, especially in still air or enclosed spaces. Be conscious of hand hygiene, including washing or sanitizing frequently and avoiding touching your eyes with dirty hands. And of course, stay home if you have cold- or flu-like symptoms or a new loss of your sense of taste or smell that could be COVID-19. You don’t need to wear a mask most times at the event if you are vaccinated and maintaining your distance from others. If you are not vaccinated, please wear a mask in the registration/start/finish area and at other times when you cannot maintain six-feet distance from others. Everyone is asked to put on a mask for the start lineup, and everyone may run without a mask once they are spread out from other runners. Thank you for your participation in making this a safe event!

Maintain Physical Distancing

Avoid prolonged close contact with others, where you are breathing the same air (especially in still air or confined/enclosed spaces) or are in close, face-to-face proximity. Try to keep at least a six-foot interpersonal distance from anyone not in your household whenever possible. As a rule-of-thumb, if you and a person nearby could reach toward each other and touch fingertips, then you are closer than six feet. Briefly being within six feet is unlikely to be a problem, so this applies primarily to situations where you are near to others for several minutes, especially if you are unvaccinated.
Travel to and from the event only with people in your household, or with one other household if you and they have been vaccinated. Driving with windows ajar for ventilation probably significantly mitigates transmission risk in the confines of a vehicle.
Abide by COVID safety guidelines if you make stops on the way to or from the event. Indoor spaces continue to pose a far greater transmission risk than outdoor activities.
Avoid gathering around the registration/check-in area in order to facilitate distancing for yourself and others.
If you are unvaccinated: Unless you are passing, please maintain at least a 20-foot distance or position yourself to the side rather than directly behind when following other runners who are going a similar speed on the course. If you are vaccinated, you are at significantly lower risk and need not observe this guideline, although we still recommend you observe normal distancing most of the time while running.

Wear a Mask if You’re Unvaccinated & Practice Good Hygiene

If you are unvaccinated, please wear a mask or face covering at the event, only uncovering your face when you are starting or are eating or drinking.
Wash your hands with soap for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer promptly after contact with respiratory fluids or possibly contaminated objects, like portable toilet doors and other commonly-touched surfaces.
If you need to cough or sneeze please cover it with a tissue (which you should then throw away as soon as possible) or with your elbow.
Avoid touching your mouth, nose, and eyes.
When taking your bib number, drinks, snacks, or any other items, please use care to touch only the item(s) you are taking. Drinks and snacks will be served in individual portions only, and common water and snack containers are to be touched by staff only.

Stay Home if You’re Sick or Vulnerable

Do not attend the event if you have a temperature of 100.4F or greater, feel sick, have had a positive COVID-19 test or illness within the past 14 days, or believe you may have recently been exposed to the COVID-19 virus
Consider your risk before deciding to attend the event if you are a member of a high-risk group or are in close contact with one or more people in a high-risk group (per CDC: 65+, immune compromised, having another health condition that exacerbates COVID-19 and unable to be vaccinated).
If you begin to experience the flu-like symptoms of COVID-19 while you are at the event, please immediately notify a staff person (at a safe distance) and self-quarantine away from others until you are able to safely depart the event

We ask you and everyone attending the event to abide by this code of conduct. We also ask that we be allowed to contact you after the event if we discover that someone at the event was sick and have reason to believe you may have been exposed. If you become sick soon after attending the event, we would appreciate you letting us know, so that we can track potential risk to our staff and other participants.

A pre-start briefing will take place 5-10 minutes before each start time.

* You do not need to arrive at 7:00 a.m. to check in. You need only arrive with enough time before the start time for your distance.

** Individual starts are available for those who do not wish to be in the mass starts for each distance. We will cut off individual starts about 10 minutes before each mass start and will resume a few minutes after each mass start. There may be a short wait, depending upon how busy the finish line is. We ask that runners starting individually still start near the designated time for their distance and adhere to the aid station cut-off times.

Course Description

50k Route Summary and Map

From the start at the Middle Fork Trailhead parking area, cross the road from the trailhead entrance and go onto to the CCC connector trail.
From the CCC connector trail, turn left at the junction just West of the campground, and onto the CCC trail for about 3 miles West to Aid Station 1 where the trail meets Middle Fork Road.
From the aid station, turn right and follow the shoulder of Middle Fork Road 150m onto the continuation of the CCC Trail (a soft right turn.)
Go 2.8 miles to where the trail meets Bessemer Road (a gravel forest road), turn left/straight onto the road, and go another one-third of a mile to Aid Station 2 at a sharp left turn in the road.
From the aid station, turn right/straight onto the continuation of the CCC Trail, and follow it past the 22-mile turn-around sign to where it meets a forest road again (about 2.8 miles from the aid station), and continue straight/left onto the road.
Follow the road about 2.5 miles, first flat, then down a hill, to Aid Station 3 and the turn-around point, just before a blue gate across the road.
Return from the way you came along the CCC Trail to the Middle Fork trailhead and Aid Station 4.
Go through the parking lot to Middle Fork Road, then along the road, past the campground entrance, across a bridge, past a road junction, and across another bridge onto the Snoqualmie Lake Trail and Aid Station 5 (about 1.2 miles from the trailhead).
Go about another 2.4 miles, 600m past the Half Marathon and 22-mile turn-around signs to a signed 50k turn-around point.
Return the way you came on the Snoqualmie Lake Trail and Middle Fork Road to finish at the Middle Fork trailhead

22-Mile Route Summary and Map

Where the CCC Trail meets the Middle Fork Road, there will be an aid station and turn-around point.
From Aid Station 1, return along the CCC Trail and CCC connector to the road crossing, and finish at the Middle Fork Trailhead.

Distances and Climb

50k (actual 50.0km): 3770 feet*
22-mile (actual 22.0mi, 35.4km): 2960 feet*
Half Marathon (actual 21.1km, 13.1mi): 2150 feet*
10k (actual 10.60km): 810 feet*

* Distances were measured using a measuring wheel and a calibrated bike odometer, and elevation data were measured using a Suunto Ambit sport watch. The distance is most likely within 1% of actual, and the climb within 5%.

Aid stations

There will be eight well-stocked aid stations on the 50k course, seven on the 22 Mile, four on the Half Marathon, and one on the 10k. Here are the distances to the aid stations for each race:

50k: 5.3 km, 10.5 km, 19.2 km, 27.8 km, 33.0 km, 38.3 km, 40.2 km, 48.1 km (3.3, 6.5, 11.9, 17.3, 20.5, 23.8, 25.0, and 29.9 miles)
22-mile: 5.3 km, 10.5 km, 14.4 km, 19.6 km, 24.9 km, 26.8 km, 33.5 km (3.3, 6.5, 8.9, 12.2, 15.5, 16.7, and 20.8 miles)
Half Marathon: 5.3 km, 10.6 km, 12.6 km, 19.2 km, (3.3, 6.6, 7.8, and 11.9 miles)
10k: 5.3 km (3.3 miles, halfway)

The aid stations will have at least water, electrolyte drink, and some carbohydrate-rich foods, such as energy gels, cookies, pieces of energy bar, bagel, fruity candy, fig bars, and/or bananas. There will be a few choices of these foods (both sweet and salty).

Aid Station Cutoff Times

50k (or 22-mile) runners exceeding these times are not on pace to finish before the course closing time and will not be allowed to continue officially participating:

Aid Station 3 (19.2 km, 11.9 miles): 11:55am
Aid Station 1 (eastbound, 33.0 km, 20.5 miles): 2:40pm
Aid Station 4 (start/finish, 38.3 km, 23.8 miles): 3:45pm

A NORTHWEST FOREST PASS IS REQUIRED to park at Middle Fork trailhead. An annual pass costs $30 and is honored at any Forest Service operated recreation area where a use fee is required. Note that this is different than a Discover Pass, which allows access to Washington State (not U.S. National Forest) lands. You can view options for purchasing a Northwest Forest Pass online or in-person at the Northwest Forest Pass website.

Safety, Etiquette, & Dogs

SAFETY

The trails will be open to other users during the event, including pedestrians with pets, and cyclists. Participants are responsible for their own safety while participating, and the organizers are neither qualified nor equipped to render medical care in the event of a serious injury. In case of an emergency, call 9-1-1. You are encouraged to bring a cell phone with you as a safety precaution, if you wish.

PASSING ETIQUETTE
Where the trails are narrow, please let other participants pass you if they want to get by. It is a passing runner’s job to tell the person in front that they wish to pass.

HEADPHONES
If you’d like to listen to music while you’re on the course, please use headphones or earbuds, so that runners around you can’t hear it. Others may prefer a quieter event experience or may have different musical tastes. Runners playing music in the open air may be asked to leave the event.

Also, keep the volume low enough that you can hear someone talking to you in a normal voice, for example, another runner saying they would like to pass on your left.

Our events are USATF certificated and under the USATF policies, dog are not allow on course.
